According to the RA law “On Making Amendments to the Criminal Code” the liability will be mitigated for those taxpayers who breached their tax obligations of up to 4 million AMD. As reported by the Ministry of Justice, RA Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan made such an announcement in the National Assembly, adding that it concerns Article 205, which is nonpayment of tax, duty or other mandatory payment. According to the Minister, the act is being decriminalized stipulating for it administrative liability. “It means, that if up till now a taxpayer was subjected to criminal liability in case of tax evasion of up to 2 million and above, now the threshold becomes 4 million AMD”-said Arpine Hovhannisyan adding that the issue had been discussed for over one year in various formats together with NGOs operating in this particular field, as well as with representatives of small and medium-sized companies.
